Personal Training

Since there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to fitness, check out one of our more popular services, personal training. This one-on-one service is for anyone. Whether you’re new to fitness or you need help getting ready for a special event, the University Fitness Center’s dedicated training staff can guide you every step of the way keeping you motivated and helping you get the most out of your fitness routine.

All personal trainers at the Fitness Center hold degrees in health and fitness-related disciplines such as exercise science, sports science, or kinesiology. Additionally, they are all certified through nationally recognized certifying bodies such as the ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), ACE (American Council on Exercise), or the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association).

  • All new personal training clients are required to have a fitness assessment (link to Fitness Testing page) prior to starting personal training sessions.
  • Former University Fitness Center clients who have not participated in personal training within a year of their last personal training appointment must complete a new fitness assessment.
  • Any former client who has had major changes in their medical status or a diagnosis of a new health condition (i.e. diabetes, heart disease, or major surgery) regardless of the timeframe, needs to be re-tested before resuming personal training.

TRX Suspension Training Expand answer

Suspension training workouts give participants an edge over conventional strength training because suspension training builds functional strength and improves flexibility, balance, and core stability all at once using the TRX’s single-point attachment for a mix of support and mobility. Suspension training movements are distinguished from traditional exercises in that either the user’s hands or feet are generally supported by a single anchor point while the opposite end of the body is in contact with the ground.

Anyone at any fitness level, including novice exercisers and seniors, can benefit from suspension training since exercises can be modified or intensified based on the client’s needs and goals.

The University Fitness Center offers TRX Suspension Training as part of the personal training service and are limited to one-on-one training only. All assessment and training fees are the same. Contact the front desk to schedule a free short demonstration of TRX Suspension Training.
